Urology Beyond Europe
The European Association of Urology is embarking on a new exciting initiative by introducing a special congress day - Urology Beyond Europe.  This event will take place on Tuesday 17 March 2009, the first day of the 24th EAU Annual Congress.  The programme will include international joint sessions involving opinion leaders from the EAU and several worldwide urological societies.  Urology Beyond Europe will provide a forum for exchange where speakers will present and discuss important topics in urology today, from the European and international perspective.

Abstract sessions
More than 1000 abstracts will be presented during four days of poster, oral and video sessions. Abstracts can be submitted through online abstract submission system.

EAU Section Meetings
The EAU Section Meetings will take place on the morning of 18 March.  The Section Meetings are lively sessions where experts in the field cover the most controversial and hot topics from basic science to practical clinical aspects in urology.  Debate and interactive discussion is encouraged.

European School of Urology Courses
The European School of Urology (ESU) will hold 40 high quality international educational courses in urology. Topics include radical prostatectomy, radical systectomy, vaginal surgery, lithiasis and urethral surgery.

To keep up with future trends, the ESU is organising additional courses on robot-assisted surgery, on the palliative treatment of advanced genitourinary cancers, and a course on the management of post-prostatectomy incontinence.

In addition the ESU and the European Society of Urological Technology (ESUT) will organise hands-on training courses: four laparoscopy courses, two sessions on ureteroscopy and a virtual reality training.

ESRU
The European Society of Residents in Urology (ESRU) will hold its 16th Annual Meeting in conjunction with the 24th EAU Annual Congress. The programme includes state of the art lectures on andrology and urogynaecology as well as an interactive quiz, testing the European residents on their urological knowledge. The winner will receive the new Campbell's Urology. During the Nightmare Session cases are presented with the aim of providing a challenge and offer useful advice on how to manage these cases.
