10th International EAUN Meeting

On behalf of the European Association of Urology Nurses (EAUN), it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 10th International Meeting of the European Association of Urology Nurses.  In support of our goal to continually upgrade the nursing skills of our members, the EAUN meeting will be held in conjunction with the 24th Annual EAU Congress from 18 - 20 March 2009 in Stockholm, Sweden.

This year in Milan, the EAUN Annual Meeting attracted over 270 participants, providing strong proof of the growing interest among professional nurses in Europe not only to hone their skills but also share their knowledge with colleagues from more than 25 countries in and outside the region. And to improve standards of urological nursing care, we have lined up state-of-the-art lectures, symposia on various topics, discussions on clinical practices and optional visits to the Karolinski Hospital, among other activities.

In Stockholm we have included several Workshops in the programme starting on Wednesday morning, to acknowledge the wish of participants for more practical hands-on sessions. On Wednesday also, we will again introduce our latest “Good Practices in Health Care booklet” this year on Urostomas (sponsored by Hollister Europe Ltd.).  The first EAUN Nursing Research Competition being considered a success, this year the learning session is again part of the programme taking into account the comments we received from participants in Milan. In the session 6 nominees will present their research plans and there will be more time for discussion with an experienced board and for feedback. The best plan will receive €2,500 (supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Ferring Pharmaceuticals).

The meeting will end with the Annual General Assembly and Awards Session. This year the prize for the Best EAUN Nursing Research Project will be included in the latter, so we now have 5 prizes to hand over. The rule that you need to be present at the award session to receive your prize will be maintained.

As your host I hope you will join us in Stockholm to learn from experts and share your urological knowledge with others during the sessions. Only by working together can we really improve the standards of practice in urological nursing care throughout Europe.

See you in Stockholm 2009!
